INTERNATIONAL RAP SENSATION AKON TO PERFORM IN CAPE TOWN
International rapper Akon will perform a one-off concert at Grand West Casino in Cape Town on Saturday 5 June 2010 backed by his full band. This forms a part of an international tour, which includes Turkey, Hungary and the Middle East.
“We welcome Akon to Cape Town and we are very proud to bring out such a well respected international performing artist to these shores,” said Victor Edozien, Cintron Africa, “This is a very pleasant and fitting treat ahead of the football tournament which kicks off a few days later.”
Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum artist Akon’s worldwide sales top 7 million units. He has had international acclaim with hits such as “Smack That”, “I Wanna Love You” and “Don’t Matter”. Akon’s most recent album was 2009’s “Freedom” which spawn 4 hit singles including “Right Now (Na Na Na)” and “I’m So paid.”
Akon will be supported by international rappers Da Les and Trick Trick. Akon is brought to Cape Town by Cintron Liquid Energy in conjunction with GoodHope FM and SABC 3. Tickets are available through Computicket and start at R350.
