OFFICIAL FAMILY STATEMENT REGARDING FUNERAL AND MEMORIAL ARRANGMENTS
FOR PROFESSOR HOTEP IDRIS GALETA
8 November 2010
Funeral Services for Professor Hotep Idris Galeta will occur on Saturday, 13 November at
His People church (N1 City, Goodwood, Cape Town – opposite McDonalds) with Pastor
Glenn Robertson officiating. The church will open at 9am for viewing. Services begin
promptly at 10am.
Media representatives are welcome; however, the family requests that press attendees
refrain from photography and videography during the funeral services.
A Memorial Event including musical tributes will occur at His People church following
the funeral ceremony and a private cremation service for immediate family.

Additional Memorial Services
East London: Thursday, 11 November at the Miriam Makeba, Center 1pm.
Johannesburg: Week of 22 November 2010, details are forthcoming.
All services are open to the public.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established an interim fund to accept donations of
support. Any funds received will be utlised first to ensure the well‐being and futures
of immediate family – particularly Hotep’s youngest children: Harold (age 17),
Nefertari (age 15) and Jazz (age 13) and Hotep’s wife Angela – who currently reside
in Johannesburg.
Once these needs are met, any remaining donations will be put towards preserving
Professor Galeta’s legacy through cultural projects he envisioned. The family will be
sure to make these plans known when the time comes.
