Phone a Springbok and support rugby victims

Rugby fans once again have the chance to chat to their favourite Springbok heroes – and help the victims of serious rugby injuries at the same time – when the annual Chris Burger Petro Jackson Players’ Fund telethon takes place on Tuesday, August 9 at Durban’s International Convention Centre.

The telethon, which helped raise over R1-million for the victims of serious and/or catastrophic rugby injuries the last time it was held in Durban two years ago, forms part of one of the most popular events on the social rugby calendar and the entire Springbok squad have once again volunteered to man the phones during a two-hour-long live TV broadcast.

Fans unable to attend the banquet on the night will be able to catch all the action live on SuperSport 1, starting at 20h00.

“You don’t have to own a satellite dish to pledge an amount,” says Fund chairman Morné du Plessis. “Simply dial 082 235 0420between 20h00 and 22h00, and one of the Springboks will gladly take your call and register your pledge.

“This Fund is something very close to my heart and I would like to encourage everyone to phone in and make even a small contribution. Every cent helps and all the money raised will once again go towards improving the lives of those hurt playing the game we all love.
