Julio Iglesias will be performing at the Grand Arena, GrandWest on the 8th November 2011.
Garnering more than 2,600 Platinum and Gold certifications and selling over 350 million records around the world, the renowned singer Julio Iglesias has performed with everyone from Frank Sinatra to Willie Nelson. He began his career in 1968 when he won the Benidorm International Song Festival with his song ‘La vida sigue igual’. He shortly after signed a deal with Discos Columbia and represented Spain in the 1970 Eurovison song contest earning fourth place. In 1979, Iglesias moved to Miami, Florida, and signed a deal with CBS International.
The original crossover artist, Julio has released over 80 albums, in many languages like English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin Chinese, Tagalog Philippines. Julio is the first and only performer to receive one of the most stunning achievements in musical history – the Diamond Record Award by the Guinness Book of World Records, for selling more records in more languages than any other musical artist in history.
In 1984, Iglesias released his first English album ‘1100 Bel Air Place’. It immediately went multi platinum and formed an all important bridge between European and American music. The first single “To All the Girls I’ve loved Before“, a duet with Willie Nelson, went to number five on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also featured the song “All of You”, with Diana Ross.
Iglesias won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album at the 1988 Grammy Awards for the album Un Hombre Solo (A Man Alone) and recorded a duet with Stevie Wonder with the song “My Love”, on his ‘Non Stop’ album. In the 1990s, Iglesias released ‘Tango’ (1996), which was nominated for Best Latin Pop Album at the 1998 Grammy Awards.
His 2011 world tour includes shows on four continents. (Last year, the artist performed on the five continents, in a wide range of countries such as: Australia, Japan, Malaysia, USA and Canada, Morocco, the Philippines, Spain, Monaco, Bulgaria and numerous South American countries.)
