Freshlyground celebrates 10th birthday with old school nationwide tour

From 28 October to 9 December 2011 the country’s premium afro-pop outfit, Freshlyground, making things happen with Nedbank will be hitting the road for an old school nationwide tour.

Dubbed The Freshlyground 10 Year Birthday Love No Hate Tour, the 29-date showcase will see the band taking their award winning afro-pop sound from large cities to small towns, in celebration of their 10 year anniversary and very own Love No Hate campaign.

Catch Freshlyground at one of 29 venues nationwide between 28 October and 4 December for a once-off retrospective event will see the band performing popular material from all four albums, including Jika Jika.

Freshlyground formed in early 2002, and is made up of seven talented and diverse musicians from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Fronted by the diminutive but dynamic Zolani Mahola, the band exudes a live performance energy that has been the bedrock of their success. The experienced rhythm section of Peter Cohen (drums) and Josh Hawks (bass) is complimented by guitarist Julio Sigauque, keyboardist Seredeal Scheepers, Simon Attwell (flute, mbira, sax and harmonica) and violinist Kyla Rose. Smith. Although hailing from diverse backgrounds, between them the band’s members weave a musical magic that is highly infectious and undeniably groovy.
