In a bid to drive entrepreneurship and community development, WP Rugby and DHL are running a charity initiative, spearheaded by the DHL Stormers, DHL Express and Shawco.
All supporters attending games at DHL Newlands this season are requested to bring along any unwanted items of clothing and deposit them into the 8 marked and manned bins at the main entrances to the stadium.
DHL Express is also offering all its customers a free collection service – companies are able to call their service representative and organize a collection free of charge.
The aim of the initiative is to generate funds for education and training initiatives and to help create jobs.
The clothing collection will then be:
· Sold at Shawco retail outlets
· Sold, at base price, to identified township entrepreneurs, who will be trained and assisted via Shawco’s business student initiative, Siyaya, to set up new start-up entrepreneurial businesses.
All surplus funds generated by Shawco will be utilized to further identify educational programmes.
