By incredible popular demand Bovim Ballet brings back QUEEN AT THE BALLET, being staged at the Baxter Theatre for a strictly limited season from 8th – 18th August.
QUEEN AT THE BALLET uses the athleticism of rock ballet en-pointe in a high impact production that will entertain people of all ages. As audiences have come to expect from Bovim Ballet productions, the show is packed with high artistic standards, innovative & original choreography, and powerful performances from the strong cast of dancers.
Michael Hankinson’s exquisite recorded orchestral arrangements of Queen’s music are further enhanced by the live gymnastic vocals of CITO (WONDERboom & Jesus Christ Superstar fame), Daniel Fisher (Fiddler on the Roof) and the recent addition of popular local soprano Magdalene Minnaar, (most recently seen as Christine in Phantom of the Opera, receiving rave reviews) to perform the showstopper “Barcelona” with Cito.
This hit show captures the story of the great pretender, Freddie Mercury, told through the medium of dance. Set to over 20 of his greatest hits including amongst others; Who wants to live forever, Another one bites the Dust, Bohemian Rhapsody; audience members will be taken on a journey of the fascinating life of one of the world’s greatest singers. The audience can expect to see tender pas de deux interspersed with exciting rocking group numbers.
Dancers include Henk Opperman, Tanya Futter, Faye Dubinski, Devon Marshbank, Nicola Van der Merwe, James Bradley, Iggy Van Heerden, Zandile Constable, Darren Greeff, Jennifer Middleton, Steven Van Wyk, Llewellyn Mnguni, Sven Muller, Megan Black, Javan Mattei, Elzanne Crause, Che Milani, Ipeleng Morafe, Grant Van Ster and Justin Mancer.
Henk Opperman dances the role of Freddie while his lovers are portrayed by Devon Marshbank, Tanya Futter, Nicola Van der Merwe & Faye Dubinski.

Performances are from 8th – 18th August 2012 at the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch.
Shows run from Wednesdays to Saturdays 8pm and Sunday 12th August at 2pm.
