In June we had the privilege to take our daughter Casey on her 1st overseas trip ever .
It was something my wife and I had discussed at length as we wanted to give Casey as much of a grounding and rounding to experience as much as possible so she can form her own opinions.
The adventure was beyond exciting .It started at Duty Free at O.R Tambo ,with us flying to Bangkok on the way to Phuket.
Casey spotted Nutella, might I say a massive tub as well and proudly announced “Dada is this free, It says free on that sign” .
My mind raced to the thoughts of being a child again , what joy to have selective reading and seeing .The word duty never entered her mind!
We arrived in Bangkok and what did Casey spot -mind you dad had told her look out for Burger King – Welcome to breakfast Thailand Style.
Casey was a ball of excitement when we landed in Phuket .
She had done plenty of pre tour reading and wanted to see things and ask questions.
On all the flights she did the check in and in Bangkok she found out where we needed to go for the next connecting flight and she was intrigued to see all the languages in play as well as all the different faces of people from all over the world.
We certainly are blessed with a daughter who wants to explore and ask questions ,She loved to bargain at the markets and took to snorkeling on the islands like a duck takes to water.
One of the undying memories we will take as a family is one of Casey on the fight back asking me “Dad whats going on on this page” when I was reading the Financial Mail and Casey wanting to know about dividend yield and what is the share price. This is a 13 year old -watch out Warren Buffet .
