Siksti.com, the brainchild of former Idols Judge and Sony Music Africa marketing manager Dave Thompson- today launched its network in South Africa with an exciting competition:
The best 60 seconds snippet of audio submitted before 8 August will win R10 000.
Thompson is eager to stress that “audio does not only mean music. We do not mind birdsong or spoken word or comedy snippets or even the sound of waves crashing against the rocks – as long as its no longer than 60 seconds!”
With this competition Siksti hopes to raise awareness of its drive to establish a new artistic community who pool together their talents to produce art in high demand by the advertising and film production industries.
“If only 53 seconds of a song is ever going to be played in a sitcom, or even less in an advertisement – we cannot see why a dedicated artistic community could not be mobilised to produce this compressed content.” – according to Thompson.
Artists can enter the competition by mailing their mp3 file to audio@siksti.com and tweeting the word “done” to @siksti on twitter.
Artists who want to enquire more about the company can read a mission statement here: www.siksti.tumblr.com and are advised to subscribe to the siksti blog to keep abreast of developments prior to the companies web launch.
