Mike and the Mechanics perform in Cape Town on 20 August 2013 at Grand Arena

567 Cape Talk and Famous Concerts proudly announce a one-night only Mike and the Mechanics performance in Cape Town on 20 August 2013, celebrating twenty-five years of the group’s massive hit, ‘The Living Years’.

The legendary English rockers will be live on stage at GrandWest Casino’s Grand Arena.

Mike Rutherford, a founding member of one of the most successful groups of all time, Genesis, formed Mike and the Mechanics in the eighties, creating a ‘side project’ that went on to sell over 10 million records worldwide.

This band, started initially as a project, has topped charts over the years with many other huge hits.

Besides the iconic Living Years’, other well-known songs  include ‘Silent Running’, ‘All I Need Is a Miracle’, ‘Word of Mouth’, ‘Over my Shoulder’ and ‘Beggar on a Beach of Gold’.

Cape Town audiences will be treated to these great songs and many other old favourites.

Mike and the Mechanics have long enjoyed a reputation as one of the world’s most-respected melodic contemporary rock bands. After the untimely and sad death of vocalist Paul Young, the group re-emerged, and leader Mike Rutherford started writing again.   The result is a new generation Mike and The Mechanics, featuring two new faces in the vocal department.
