Rupert Mellor, Big Bob Nagel and Luna Paige …and featuring Schalk Joubert (bass) Willem Moller (guitars) and Kevin Gibson(drums) @ Die Boer R100 per person
Harmonica player Bruce Ewan is respected as a Top blues musician in his native town of Washington, D.C., where he has been active musically for more than 25 years and has been called “a harmonica wizard” by the Washington Post. Mr. Ewan has shared the stage with artists like John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, and Carey Bell; recorded with Big Joe & the Dynaflows, and performed in venues from New York to Florida.
He has also made joint appearances with his older brother, blues guitarist Bobby Radcliff. His virtuosity on the harmonica stands out among his peers and competitors. He plays complex solos that combine flurries of notes, changes of tonality, and a keen sense of timing. Thoroughly schooled in the history and traditions of the blues in general and the blues harp in particular, he is a master of both diatonic and chromatic harmonica. His vocals, too, are faithful to the subtleties and nuances of authentic-sounding blues.
Bruce Ewan fell in love with South Africa on his previous visit, as well as its world-class musicians, and he has assembled a starstudded group of friend to join him on stage.
Rupert Mellor needs no introduction. Original member of the legendary SA Rock Band McCully Workshop, he is ‘n Master-class Blues-Rock man, piano player and entertainer, and he is a regular feature on die Boer’s stage.
Rob “Big Bob” Nagel is considered as one of the “Fathers of the Blues” in South Africa. Founder member of the Blues Broers, they almost single-handedly established the blues as an artform in Stellenbosch in the late 80″s and early 90″s and inspired a whole new generation of superb new young South African blues artists. Still ‘sporting” his trademark and instantly recognisable beard, Rob is a superb harmonica player and bassist, and a Blues-man from the Top of his hat, to the “soles of his shoes”.
The superb singer-songwriter with the spine chilling voice Luna Paige will also join Bruce on stage. Her live performances leave audiences awestruck and speechless, intrigued by her stories, delivered through well-crafted lyrics. With her powerful, soulful voice, Luna takes you on a hypnotic and moving voyage. Her love for song writing and the piano started in her teens, during which time she was heavily influenced by the great songwriters of the 70’s. Artists like Jackson Browne, Jim Croce, Karen Carpenter and Paul Simon, all played a part in shaping her sound.
