JCQ PRODUCTIONS is extremely proud to announce that the Cape Town Jazzathon will once again take place at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre, from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 January 2024.

The Cape Town Jazzathon, which recently celebrated its 26th Anniversary in 2023, is one of the  longest running music festivals in South Africa

The annual, FREE  to public festival, will host  up-and-coming live bands, newly discovered talent, and as per usual, features a few surprise artists and Jazzathon Legends.

Now a regular feature at The Cape Town Jazzathon, the Sunday line-up is like prime real estate, with the immensely popular “Gospel According Jazzathon” always leaving one spoilt for choice.

Highlights this year include

 Germaine Leonard

Heinrich Frans

 Empress Naphtali

The Festival is supported by The National Arts Council, The City of Cape Town and The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport. Also fondly known as ‘The Peoples Festival’, the iconic event will feature at least 6 performances daily, between 12h00 – 20h00.

“This musical formula seems to work well for the festival” says festival director Craig Parks of JCQ Productions, “We try our best to feature as many jazz related music genres at the Jazzathon, as possible. The upcoming Jazzathon Summer Showcase line-up will be extremely diverse as we have a whole range of music styles including Afro Jazz, Cape Jazz, Hip Hop and RnB, Reggae, Gospel and Neo Soul, and Straight Ahead all crammed into 3 days of back-to-back entertainment”

The festival organisers would like to remind patrons and attendees, that the Cape Town Jazzathon is a family event

The City of Cape Town is proud to support the Cape Town Jazzathon Summer Showcase, and we look forward to welcoming all the musicians and jazz fans to the Mother City for what will undoubtedly be another fantastic three-day festival.

Cape Town has a long and proud association with jazz, and many of our country’s most iconic musicians hail from the Mother City. And for every musician who has achieved recognition there are hundreds more waiting to be discovered. This is what makes the Jazzathon Summer Festival such a special event, as a host of young, upcoming jazz artists will have an opportunity to announce themselves to the world.

This “People’s Festival” has long been a launching platform for budding musicians, dating all the way back to 1997, and over three days in January many more youngsters will have a chance to show their skills and possibly set themselves on a lifelong music journey. With a special focus on providing opportunities for disadvantaged artists, this year’s festival will showcase talent from all around Cape Town and beyond, including artists from Mitchells Plain, Khayelitsha, Kuilsriver, Elsies River, Gugulethu, Langa and Bonteheuwel.

What a fantastic opportunity for these young musicians, and what a great day out for all those in the audience. I wish you all a wonderful Cape Town Jazzathon Summer Showcase!
