Cape Town, 28 January 2026 – One of Cape Town’s most legendary nightlife brands is back.

Club Thriller – The Original Throwback returns for a once-off celebration on Saturday, 7 February 2026, bringing the sound, style, and spirit of a generation back to the dancefloor at Westend, Rylands Estate.

First opening its doors on 6 December 1985 on Modderdam Road in Bellville South, at the height of apartheid, Club Thriller quickly established itself as a groundbreaking cultural and musical space. 

As a sister venue to the iconic Club Galaxy, it attracted music lovers, trendsetters, and partygoers from across the country, united by rhythm, fashion, and freedom of expression.

Renowned for its cutting-edge sound system, high-tech lighting, and innovative two-level layout, Club Thriller was far ahead of its time. 

It was more than a nightclub—it was a lifestyle. From its famously indulgent toasted steak and chips to its anything-goes party culture, the venue became synonymous with unforgettable nights and lasting memories.

The club’s soundtrack was shaped by legendary DJs including Andre Pearce (Dr Boogie), Russell Connolly (“The Love Muscle”), and Selwyn Bartlett & Russell Connolly, famously known as The Terrible Twins.

Together, they delivered a powerful mix of disco, pop, and early house music, featuring iconic artists such as Sonia, Rick Astley, and Kylie Minogue, alongside influential remixes from pioneers like Frankie Knuckles and Ben Liebrand—music that defined the late 80s and early 90s.

Now, decades later, Club Thriller – The Original Throwback returns to reignite that energy.

 Guests can expect an evening of pure nostalgia, timeless classics, and a vibrant dancefloor atmosphere that bridges generations.
