Singing Car Guard to have first concert Fri 22 March

The Searching for Alen Concert takes place on Friday 22 March @ 20h30 in the Main Auditorium of the His People Centre at N1 City, Cape Town.

The Singing Car Guard Alen Abrahams of Kalksteenfontein on the Cape Flats is to have his first concert – and a star-studded line up – later this month in Cape Town.
The organisers of the show, Lifestyle Events International, have dubbed the show “Searching for Alen.” Alen and guest artists James Bhemgee, Karen Kortjé, Lloyd Cele and Melissa Allison will be wowing the crowds on 22 March in the 3000 seater auditorium of the His People Centre at N1 City.

The Singing Car Guard was discovered only three weeks ago when his You Tube hits Meisie, Ek het Stinkblaaie, Pam, Kerrie en Dissie Ekkie went viral – and 500 000 people watched the videos in the span of only two weeks.
Soprano-voiced Alen (31) from impoverished Kalksteenfontein became an overnight sensation.

Alen’s soaring soprano has garnered complements such as “Cape Town’s very own Michael Jackson” and “a Welsh choir boy.” But add to that the local flavour and zing that Alen injects into his adaptation of international hits. Songbird Alicia Keys’ Girl on Fire is transformed into the deliciously wicked Ek het Stinkblaaie whilst Michael Jackson’s Bad becomes Pam, a song about Cape Town transvestites, and Will you be There gets spiced up as Kerrie, a song about a household too poor to have meat in its curry.

Red-hot talent and Alen’s winning manner convinced Lifestyle Events International to put their weight behind him and launch his career in grand style.
In what has become its signature style, the concert organisers have gone out all the way for Alen.
The Singing Car Guard will have the privilege of been backed up by musical maestro Camillo Lombard’s and his amazing orchestra during his 40 minute set.
During this time, he will perform his You Tube hits, as well as some brand-new songs.

The rest of the evening belongs to some of South Africa’s greatest artists. James Bhemgee, Karen Kortjé, Lloyd Cele and Melissa Allison will wow the crowds with their hits as well as cover versions.

And for those people wondering about the concert’s name – here’s a story. According to Lifestyle Events International they decided on this name after hearing about the lengths to which local DJ Aden Thomas and acclaimed music producer Gabi le Roux went to track Alen down after seeing his You Tube videos.
The search for the elusive Singing Car Guard took on such proportions that one is reminded of the Oscar winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man.

Now it’s your chance to discover this home-grown genius for yourself.
