SPIN MUSIC FAIR- WE BREAK ALL THE RECORDS

Following on from a highly successful relaunch at Pirates Bowls Club in September, Joburg`s premier Spin Music Fair is once again set to showcase the best in thousands of new and pre-owned vinyl records, CD`s, collectables, cassette tapes and audio accessories on Sunday 25th October 2020.

Kids can have a ball in the safe and secure children`s playground whilst family and friends can enjoy delicious meals and drinks at The Green Room Café.

The following top dealers will be at the Fair offering loads of bargains.

The Spin Music Fair @ Pirates Bowls Club is open from 10am to 2pm and is located at 4 Cruden Bay Road, Greenside with ample parking.

The Spin Music Fair strictly complies with existing government COVID-19 heath legislation by making hand sanitiser available at the entrance and on each dealer table, social distancing between the dealer tables and insistence on the wearing of masks at all times-no mask, no entry.

Vinyl is booming, and if you own a record player, you’ve probably got a nice collection of records with music you love. One of vinyl‘s great benefits is sound quality, but which records bring out the best in the format? Here`s a handful of the best-sounding records from a bunch of different genres . If you want to augment your record collection, or perhaps buy a record for a music fan, you’ll find something to like here.

The Beatles-Abbey Road (1969) – The Beatles’ music still endures 50 years after the band broke up, and every vinyl fan probably owns at least one of their records. Though the Sgt Peppers stereo remix was released to great fanfare several years ago, we were bigger fans of Abbey Road, the last true cohesive Beatles album.

Amy Winehouse-Back to black (2006) –Easily one of the best albums released since the turn of the century, Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black captures her soon-to-be tragic life in amber. This LP deserves to be in any self-respecting collection.

Stevie Wonder-Songs in the key of life (1976) – Stevie Wonder had a great run in the ’70s, and Songs in the Key of Life is held up as the epitome of his output. The album boasts four hit singles (two of which topped the charts), and solid funk combined with soulful song writing carries the record from beginning to end.

Portishead-Dummy – Portishead’s Dummy is the musical version of the movie Withnail and I — its meaning shifts depending on your mood at the time. It works as a soundtrack to your next dinner party or can take you through a post break-up period. Final track Glory Box is one of the best songs ever written.

Jimi Hendrix Experience-Axis Bold As Love (1968) – Hendrix`s sophomore album offers elements of soul, free form jazz, swing, & R&B alongside the psychedelic hard rock that his ground breaking explosive debut album announced a mere few months back. Includes the timeless and fragile “Little Wing”.

Pink Floyd-Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) – Floyds`s masterpiece was built on the shoulders of their previous album “ Meddle”, but it`s here where their sonic palette hits full stride ! Whether you listen on your system `live` or on headphones it`s easy to understand why audiophiles rate this the greatest sounding record ever.
