Poetry & Song sees Red

Come 14 May 2021, Youngblood Studio on Bree Street is set to come to life with long-overdue Poetry & Song, LIVE!

Besides the night’s headliners in the form of the inimitable Siphokazi Jonas, Heinrich Frans, Benedict De Maar and Valentino Europa, Dylan Red is set to open the night in song.

Dylan’s a Cape Town-born singer/songwriter who plays multiple instruments and has been performing professionally since 2016. Currently, he’s doing music full-time, performing at public and private events.

He auditioned and cut his musical teeth busking at the V&A Waterfront in December 2016.

When playing live, Dylan generally plays various covers, spanning multiple genres. However, his original music leans towards a combination of funk, blues, folk and pop. Recently, he has also incorporated a loop station, as famously used by Ed Sheeran, which allows him to perform as a one-man band.

Dylan has released an album, titled First Take, of original tracks and was a Top 10 finalist for the #HuaweiKDay #DreamItPossible competition. Dylan also took part in Funderland Talent Search and the Suidoosterfees Talent Search, where he placed as a finalist in both.

He’s opened for Jazzathon 2019 at the V&A Waterfront and has attained Grade-5 in Music Theory, certified by The London College of Music.

As a regular attendee of Music Exchange (MEX), V&A Waterfront and Inspired Stages workshops, Dylan’s inclusion on the Poetry & Song line-up makes perfect sense and is a wonderful opportunity for music lovers to engage with the special talent on the night.

Tickets are available, here, via Quicket.
