The annual event to herald the festive start to the season is a must on the Cape Town event calendar and this year legends of Old school invite you to CTICC on the balcony to witness the lights coming on as you get entertained by a fabulous band with Tracey Carter, Richard Caesar and Ian Smith and during the breaks you have the DJ – Rodger the Dodger.
Doors open at 15h00 with the smooth sounds of PFore Online Radio.
Richard Caesar is one of the forefront jazz vocalists and guitarists in Cape Town, whose repertoire covers a wide range of genres, including Latin, rock, pop, classical, jazz and swing.
Tracy Carter started music from as early age with her first solo performance at the age of 4 and from that point she fell in love with the stage. She is an accomplished singer, songwriter, musical director and producer.
Ian Smith began playing trumpet at the age of 15 and has studied with Joe Csibi, Bobby Shew, and Trevor England, and is also a trained bass singer. While in college (at Trinity College, Dublin), Smith had his first experiences as a professional musician, scoring and playing for jingles and TV documentaries.
He is one of the most famous South African trumpet players of his generation. Ian has played with the Gerry Bosman Orchestra, the UTC Big Band, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and is also the founder of Cape Jazz Orchestra. For years he taught at SACS High School in Cape Town, during which he helped the school win many accolades and toured Europe in 1993.
DJ Roger the Dodger has been on the music scene for over 30 years entertaining people playing at various house parties, functions and guest DJ at Clubs in and around Cape Town. He still maintains “playing old school music is what I do best”.
